[Book] The Secret by Rhonda Byrne

Just as I've mentioned, before, The book "The Secret" by Rhonda Byrne is an interesting book. Its also quite a short book which you can probably finish in a day. Its a non-fiction book which is mainly about spiritual well-being.

To put it simple, the book mainly talks about positive feelings, feeling good about yourself, awareness of self, and believing in yourself. That's the general idea I got after finishing the book.... Even though it seems quite a boring concept when I put it this way, the book is actually not so straightforward and simple as it sounds. There are very interesting concepts which are found in the book that will set the readers thinking " is this possible??"

Even though some stuffs mentioned in the book really intrigues me and got me thinking, I think most of the stuffs mentioned in the book are really quite true. You are what you think.

All that we are is a result of what we have

thought." Buddha(563BCE-483BCE)

Just to give a rough preview of what was mentioned in the book.
The starting portion of the book actually talks about imagination. It says to imagine what we want, and through sheer imagination, we'll be able to get what we want in the end. There's 3 simple steps mentioned:
1) Ask
2) Believe
3) Receive
The author liken it to the simple steps of ordering from a menu. Whatever you want (for example you wanna get rich/strike 4D), just ask for it like what you'll do in a restaurant when you order a dish. Then you'll have to truly believe that it'll happen, just like how you'll know that the dish that you have order in a restaurant will definitely be served before you. After that, you'll have to feel good to receive the thing which you've asked for.

How it will happen, how the Universe will bring it to you, is not

your concern or job. Allow the Universe to do it for you. When

you are trying to work out how it will happen, you are emitting a

frequency that contains a lack of faith—that you don't believe you

have it already. You think you have to do it and you do not believe

the Universe will do it for you. The how is not your part in the

Creative Process.

Ask once, believe you have received, and all you have to do to

receive is feel good. When you are feeling good, you are on the

frequency of receiving. You are on the frequency of all good things

coming to you, and you will receive what you have asked for.

Interesting and refreshing concept huh? The book also mentioned about imagining and believing and behaving that you've gotten the thing which you've asked for. I think there was a case study/example which was being brought up but can't remember exactly what was it, but generally, it mentioned that fore example if you wanna be rich, you gotta have the mentality of a rich guy. You gotta change your lifestyle, habits etc.

But after reading that portion, I was thinking: if you're really poor and you spend and behave like you're rich, won't you go bankrupt soon? That part didn't really make sense....

Here's something for girls out there who want to lose weight.

Food is not responsible for putting on weight. It is your thought that

food is responsible for putting on weight that actually has food put

on weight. Remember, thoughts are primary cause of everything,

and the rest is effects from those thoughts.

Let go of all those limiting thoughts. Food cannot cause you to put

on weight unless you
think it can.

Some of the ideas are quite confusing as it challenges our common sense- things which we believe to be true and which we usually don't question.
Time is just an illusion.

What quantum physicists and Einstein tell us is that everything

is happening simultaneously. If you can understand that

there is no time, and accept that concept, then you will see that

whatever you want in the future already exists. If everything is

happening at the one time, then the parallel version of you with

what you want
already exists!

So sometimes it'll leave me wondering "Huh?? But that's not what we know!

The book also mentioned the law of attraction. When you are feeling good, you'll attract all the good stuffs around you. Eg If you're feeling terrible, you'll also attract all the terrible stuffs all around you! So in the end, you're be thrown with more and more terrible events throughout the day. But if you change your mindset and feel good, you'll start attracting all the good stuffs around you.

Everything we think and feel is creating our future. If you're

worried or in fear, then you're bringing more of that into your

life throughout the day.

In my opinion, it may not be the "Law of Attraction" that created this. Cause if someone is feeling terrible or irritated, every small little thing that happened will easily irritate or anger the person. But if the person is feeling happy, then the person obviously won't be pissed off over small matters. The happiness will easily override the anger.

Decide what you want. Believe you can have it. Believe you

deserve it and believe it's possible for you. And then close

your eyes every day for several minutes, and visualize having

what you already want, feeling the feelings of already having

it. Come out of that and focus on what you're grateful for

already, and really enjoy it. Then go into your day and release

it to the Universe and trust that the Universe will figure out

how to manifest it.

Really?? If I can really get what I want just simply by imagining it everyday, why not? I guess it doesn't hurt to give it a try and do some day-dreaming imagination everyday. It may also keep me happy for a few minutes everyday.

The front part of the book mostly focus on imagination, believing etc. After that it also talks about the importance of gratitude, love etc.

To sum it up, just enjoy your life and feel good about yourself! Do what you want to do.
Yup, just keep an open mind when you read the book.
